Virgin sugarcane honey is the wonderful essence used to produce Ron de Guatemala. As the name implies, the liquid has the consistency of honey and is considered “virgin” because the naturally-occurring sugars have not been extracted from the cane stalks. The liquid tastes sweet and pure with hints of caramel.

Virgin sugarcane honey is produced from the first press of ripened sugarcane. The juice from this first press is heated, clarified and filtered to remove solids that may remain suspended in the liquid. Lastly, the filtered juice is evaporated to remove excess water and concentrate the sugars in a perfect balance of sweetness and magic.

This meticulous process is precisely one of the most important aspects that distinguishes Ron de Guatemala from most other rums in the world –the latter are produced from molasses (one of the byproducts from processing sugar) — the difference in quality is obvious.
